A combination of alcohol, bees and a gun resulted in a Williamsburg man making a trip to the hospital Sunday.
The incident happened around 2:00 Sunday yesterday afternoon in Frankstown Township in the Canoe Creek area.

Even sober, using a pistol to kill insects is a really bad idea.

Police say back in November, 59-year old Paul Douglas was found dead in his home on the Northside.

The 85-year-old woman is seen and heard on the video threatening to shoot “all the pigs,” referring to police.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A Frankfort man was arrested on drug trafficking charges early Sunday morning after he was reportedly pumping gas into an imaginary vehicle. According to the arrest report, Metro Police arrived at a gas station at First and Jefferson streets in Louisville and immediately smelled marijuana coming from Joshua L. Moore, who station clerks contend was filling up an imaginary vehicle.

I hope at least it was a nice imaginary car. Shame that he didn’t try to evade police in it – think of the dash-cam video.

SYDNEY (Reuters) – A major Australian state has banned laser pointers after a spate of incidents in which aircraft pilots have been temporarily blinded, the government said on Monday.
High-powered hand lasers, including so-called “star pointers” used by astronomers, would be listed as prohibited weapons in New South Wales state with jail terms of up to 14 years for anyone carrying them without a permit.

Obviously laser pointers are just too dangerous for ordinary people to have…

Learning to walk in a world of hard surfaces can turn a special moment into a heart rendering incident in a flash. It’s normal for young children to sustain bumps and bruises occasionally as part of exploring; the problem is this kind of fall is very common in even the safest of homes and gardens. The damage to a falling toddler’s hands and knees can be an acceptable form of pain for learning but a head injury can be traumatic for both infant and parent.

It’s the ‘Thudguard’ (not to be confused with the Thagomizer) As a parent, I know that kids are built to withstand a fall from approximately their height.   I’ve had discussions about bike helmets with people before, and my rule is if the surface is paved, then wear the helmet.  I observed a neighbor who was teaching their daughter to ride a bike.  She fell, and her mother made quite a big deal about how if she hadn’t been wearing the helmet, she would have smashed her head.  From whare I was standing, I could see what really happened.  The kid & bike tipped over, and once they were on the ground, the kid let their head & helmet hit.  No helmet, no impact.

A newspaper photographer has been fired for doctoring his award-winning picture, the Website of the Shanghai-based Xinmin Evening News reported yesterday.

Zhang Liang from the Harbin Daily submitted the picture “Over 800 pigeons at a square take the bird flu vaccine” to the China International Press Photo Contest in 2005 and came away with a gold award.

You’d think after all the uproar over the reuters photographer that faked pictures, that even the Chinese media would know better.

GLENVILLE — A town police officer is facing a felony after he allegedly shot out a streetlight with a potato gun while on duty, Glenville Police Chief Michael Ranalli said Friday.

It’s nice to see that cops are capable of having a good time with spud guns.  It’s also nice to see them being treated just like anyone else.  So what kind of criminal activity would require a cop to carry a loaded potato gun?

An Arlington man was critically injured Thursday night when he tried to “roof surf” atop a car traveling down a highway, police said.

The unidentified man, 24, has life-threatening injuries after trying to climb out of a Scion xB and onto its roof. He fell from the car onto the highway but was not struck by any vehicles, authorities said. The man was transported to a hospital by helicopter.

I’m resisting all the easy jokes about the xB, and even the ‘hey ya’ll, watch this’.  Hopefully he is an organ donor.
